Afropop star Yemi Alade has released a new single, ‘You Are,’ an empowering anthem celebrating strength, resilience, and cultural heritage.
The track, inspired by the upcoming superhero fantasy series ‘Iyanu,’ was produced by Lion Forge Entertainment and arrives with a lyric video featuring animations from the show.
Alade, known as “Mama Africa,” described the song as a tribute to self-discovery and destiny. “Music has always been a powerful way to tell our stories, and ‘You Are’ speaks to our strength and divine power,” she said. “It’s an anthem for anyone discovering their greatness. Bringing this to life for ‘Iyanu’—a series rooted in Nigerian mythology—is an honour.”
The song was produced by Grammy-nominated Michael Hodges and co-written by Hodges, Alade, Kayla Morrison, Gerald Trottman, and Ghian Wright. Hodges praised Alade’s vocals, calling her the perfect voice for the song’s message.
‘Iyanu’ creator and executive producer Roye Okupe expressed excitement over the collaboration, noting that Alade’s song captures the essence of the series, which celebrates Nigerian mythology and culture.
