Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo and ex-international Obafemi Martins have expressed strong support for Victor Osimhen’s potential move to Manchester United, predicting he would excel at Old Trafford.
Speaking to *AfricaFoot*, Martins highlighted Osimhen’s finishing ability, speed, and power, which he believes would significantly boost United’s attack. “If he joins this team, everything changes, especially their goal-scoring. He’s one of the best finishers in Europe and has proven it repeatedly,” Martins said.
Joseph Yobo also praised the fit between Osimhen and Manchester United, emphasizing the striker’s potential impact on the club’s transition phase under new manager Rúben Amorim. “Victor and Manchester United are a perfect match. Despite their struggles, United remains one of the world’s top clubs, and Osimhen could be a key leader in their project,” Yobo said.
Osimhen, the 2023 CAF African Footballer of the Year, has been in top form on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, scoring 13 goals in 16 appearances. His performances have drawn interest from several elite clubs, including Manchester United and Liverpool. Reports suggest Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, has discussed a potential €90m release clause for Osimhen.
Despite the speculation, Osimhen has confirmed his commitment to Galatasaray until the end of the season. “I will not leave in January. I am very happy at Galatasaray,” he told reporters after a recent Europa League match.
Meanwhile, Liverpool is reportedly eyeing Osimhen as a replacement for Darwin Núñez, intensifying the competition for the Nigerian star’s signature.
