In a major security breakthrough, a joint operation led by the Nigeria Police Force and supported by the Military, Civil Defence, and Anambra Vigilante operatives dismantled a notorious criminal camp in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area. The operation, which occurred in the early hours of December 24, resulted in the destruction of several makeshift structures, the recovery of 19 unexploded improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and severe injuries to fleeing suspects.
Acting on credible intelligence about the gang’s activities and information extracted from suspects arrested in ongoing operations across the state, security operatives launched a swift and coordinated assault on the camp.
The Commissioner of Police, *CP Nnaghe Obono Itam*, lauded the collaborative efforts between security agencies and the public. He credited actionable intelligence and inter-agency synergy for the success of the operation, which he described as vital to ensuring a peaceful festive season.
He also called on private and public hospital owners to report any individuals seeking medical attention for bullet wounds or other suspicious injuries. This directive aims to aid the apprehension of fleeing suspects and curb criminal activities in the state.
The Anambra State Police Command assured residents of its commitment to maintaining security throughout the yuletide season. It announced plans for sustained patrols and targeted operations to safeguard lives and property.
The Police Public Relations Officer, *SP Tochukwu Ikenga*, reiterated the Command’s resolve to create a secure environment for all, urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperative.
