WAYC Ambassador Amb. Enoch Odunayo has launched a major cybersecurity initiative aimed at enhancing digital safety and security for Nigerian youth. The initiative, titled “Cybersecurity for Nigeria’s Future,” addresses the increasing cyber threats faced by young Nigerians in light of the country’s rapid digital growth.
Odunayo stressed the need for widespread cybersecurity awareness, stating, “Nigeria’s youth are increasingly engaged in online activities, but this presents its own challenges. Our mission is to provide them with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital landscape safely and responsibly.”
The initiative includes nationwide awareness campaigns, skill development programs in cybersecurity, promotion of responsible digital citizenship, and collaboration with various stakeholders. It will also work on creating safe online spaces and fostering innovation in cybersecurity solutions.
To achieve these goals, the program will offer free training through Telegram, partner with educational institutions, government agencies, and private sector organizations, and advocate for responsible online behavior and digital rights.
Odunayo urged Nigerian youth to participate, emphasizing that cybersecurity education is crucial for individual and national security. “Together, we can build a resilient society prepared for the digital age,” he said.
The initiative represents a significant step towards safeguarding Nigeria’s digital future and empowering its youth to become responsible digital citizens.
