The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has charged 137 graduating officers and men to uphold professionalism and discipline as they commence their security assignments.
Speaking during the Passing Out Parade for Batch B Basic Arms Training on Tuesday at the FCT Command Headquarters in Abuja, Dr. Odumosu emphasized the need for adherence to rules of engagement in their duties.
He urged the officers to remain vigilant, disciplined, and committed to safeguarding lives, property, and critical national infrastructure within the FCT.
“As you are being deployed today to your various places of assignment, remember not to leave your good orientation behind. Always give your best, work smart, and think smart at all times,” Odumosu said.
He reminded the officers of the importance of professionalism in handling weapons and protecting lives and property, emphasizing the rigorous training they had undergone to prepare for security challenges.
Dr. Odumosu highlighted the critical role of the graduating officers in supporting the Command’s fight against vandalism, illegal mining, and theft of public infrastructure, stressing that much is expected of them given their training and resources.
The Commandant commended the instructors for their dedication to equipping the officers with the skills and values required for the job. He also acknowledged the support of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, and the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for their leadership and contributions to enhancing the Command’s operational capacity.
Dr. Odumosu assured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and infrastructure, promising continued efforts to ensure safety and security across the FCT.
The 137 officers form part of the FCT Command’s broader initiative to enhance its operational capabilities. Since October 2024, a total of 272 officers have undergone retraining under the Batch A and B programmes.
