The National Convener of the Recover Nigeria Project (RNP), Comrade Osita Obi, has issued a two-week ultimatum to Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Ebube Muonso, to apologize to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his remarks on the state’s security challenges.
Obi, addressing journalists in Awka on Saturday, condemned the Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, for publicly criticizing Governor Soludo during his New Year message. Fr. Obimma had called on the governor to improve security in the state or resign.
In response, Obi urged the cleric to adopt a supportive approach toward addressing security concerns rather than launching what he described as a “media war.” He argued that Soludo’s administration has made significant strides in governance since taking office.
“To the best of my observation, no governor since 1999 has achieved what Soludo’s administration has across the 179 communities in Anambra within two years and nine months,” Obi stated.
He suggested that Fr. Obimma should have sought a private meeting with the governor to discuss his concerns rather than making public criticisms. Obi added, “If Fr. Obimma believes he can tackle the situation better, he should leave the pulpit and join politics, like his colleague in Benue State.”
Obi threatened to lead a protest to the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry if the cleric failed to retract his statement and apologize within 14 days.
The activist also appealed to Ndi-Anambra to support the governor through prayers, emphasizing that solving security issues requires collective effort. “Governor Soludo is a good man with a listening ear. Insecurity is a shared responsibility, and I am confident it will be resolved soon,” he said.
Obi’s remarks come amid heightened tensions between the state government and critics over the ongoing insecurity in Anambra.
