Head of English Department, Faculty of Arts, Dr Ikechukwu Asika has on behalf of staff and students of the department penned an appreciation note to Comrade Peter Nwosu who graced their Opuluiche Festival of Arts event held recently in Igbariam where he awarded scholarships to some students of Mater Amabilis secondary school, a student of the English department and paying the cost of poetry collection, *Ife-nkili,* to the tune of N500,000.
Dr Asika averred through his letter that Nwosu’s presence at the event was the real ‘ifedi-iche pulu-iche’! and said, ” gratitude they say is a virtue and I will not fail to exercise that in thanking you for your presence and support towards the successful hosting of the Opuluiche Festival of Arts organized by the Department of English of COOU, Igbariam Campus”.
” The entire staff and students of the Department of English, COOU appreciate you for: ~ Offering to pay the school fees of one of our students who played the role of Okonkwo.
~ Ensuring that every student gets a copy of the poetry collection, *Ife-nkili,* without paying a dime at a whooping cost of 500,000. The donation demonstrates your love for Education”, he said.
While acknowledging the appreciation note, Honourable Nwosu commended the HOD and students of English Department, COOU for ensuring that our culture and tradition are kept alive by telling students what they should know about Igbo Culture.
Nwosu pledged to do more for the school and students in future.
